PAUL BARTLETTSergeant Paul Bartlett, who died on 27 June, 2006, aged 35, was serving in Afghanistan with the Royal Marines.
He was born on 3 March, 1971, and was a member of the Special Boat Service.
In the early morning of 27 June, 2006, Sgt Bartlett was taking part in operations in the Sangin valley, northern Helmand Province. He was part of a team who had just detained four Taliban militants, when their patrol came under attack.
SgtBartlett was killed in the gun battle, along with his colleague Cpt David Patton. Another soldier was seriously injured. Two of the Taliban prisoners died in the incident and the other two managed to escape.
The MoD was not able to issue a full obituary or tribute due to the sensitive nature of the operations Cpt Patton was involved in.
